Jiwaji University Gwalior was established on May 23, 1964, after M.P Govt; ordinance no.15 of 1963 as we
have information. At the time of the president of the Late Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan of India, laid
the foundation stone on 11th December 1964 at the campus of Naulakha Parade Ground.
The
Contribution of the Scindia family, Shri Kailashwasi Maharaja Shrimant Jiwaji Rao Scindia, and the Late
Rajmata Shrimati Vijayaraje Scindia. It was named after the “Kailashwasi Shrimant Jiwajirao Scindia as
his persona. The motto was in its logo “Vidyaya Prapyate Tejah”.
It’s Been 40+ years the university is now achieving huge growth. In comparison, it is paralleled to any
other national or international academic institution. The fraternity has contributed its most strength
to grow the institution and let the toughest terrain of Chambal and Gwalior region, promoting higher
education for the better life of the country's people.
At the time of the IX plan, we volunteered for assessment and accreditation by the National
Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) OF UGC. It received a huge appreciation for the approach of
interdisciplinary teaching, extracurricular activities, health and public awareness programs, healthy
student-teacher relations, transparent admission procedures, cosmopolitan student profiles, etc.
Jiwaji University Gwalior has been accredited with “A GRADE” status.
The university is spread over the jurisdiction of the districts of Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur Kalan,
Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, and Ashoknagar.
At the start, the university had 25 affiliated colleges, but
now 400+ Government, non-government, and private colleges are serving education to the students under
the university. Type Streams of colleges are Medical, Engineering, Science, Education, Nursing,
Management, Arts and Commerce etc.
